Quebec Privacy Law: Phase 1 Effective September 22, 2022
Quebec’s Privacy Law is the first to be enacted since the European Union enacted the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). The guide published by BLG (Borden Ladner Gervais) outlines the requirements for the September 22 of 2022 and September 22 of 2023 for those organizations doing work in Quebec.
According to the report, this week organizations must have implemented:
- Privacy Officer
- Exceptions to the Consent Requirement
- Consent exception for Research
- Confidentiality incidents (similar to “breach”)
- Biometrics
